For pet owners, their four-legged friends are more than just furry (or scaly) companions — they’re family. And when it comes to caring for these family members, pet owners want to know they’re getting the right care at the right time. Doing so means trusting the relationship they have with their veterinarian.
The language used when discussing treatment options, preventive care and wellness can determine how pet owners respond to recommendations. Effective communication can help foster trust and value so pet owners can provide the care their pet needs. Much of that communication comes down to the language used.
So, what kind of language resonates with pet owners? "Language That Works: Changing the Way We Talk About Veterinary Care," a language-focused research study spearheaded by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and funded in part by CareCredit, delivers insight into the words and phrases veterinary practices can use to foster relationships with pet owners.
