The Care Credit website has been designed with color-blindness or other ocular impairments in mind. All elements of the site including text were designed to conform to minimum contrast requirements. Insufficient color contrast with the background could prevent these visitors from reading the text on the website.

Therefore, the text colors used on the CareCredit website are restricted to approved brand colors found in this Style Guide. The specified colors have been tested and found to be WCAG Level AA compliant (for both large and normal text, (WCAG2 1.4.1)).

Reading and comprehension

It is important to be mindful of the user’s comprehension when reading large sections of text. In order to help the understandability of the page use visual formatting to break up large sections of text, for example by using subheadings, bulleted lists, and emphasized text. This will also aid in making content easily understandable to users that are relying on assistive technologies. (WCAG2 1.3.1)

User variable text sizes

In order to properly see the contents of the page, some users may use browser controls to increase the size of the onscreen text. From a design and development perspective the webpage needs to have a fluid structure that will maintain the layout’s informational integrity when the text size and area are increased. If this is not done the page may become “a jumbled mess” or have overlapping text and other elements. The specification is that all pages should be readable and functional when the text size is doubled. (WCAG 1.4.4)
