Back pain and neck pain due to an accident, injury or wear and tear are just some of the reasons that can send you to a chiropractor. Whether you’re planning a few chiropractor treatments or have regularly scheduled chiropractic adjustments, it’s a good idea to have a plan in place to manage the cost of chiropractic care.

This guide to chiropractor costs and chiropractic care financing can help you plan and budget for consultations, tests, adjustments and other types of chiropractic treatments to help reduce pain and improve your quality of life.

How much is a chiropractor visit?

The average cost of a chiropractic visit is $651 per session, which includes an adjustment of the vertebrae. New patients will likely pay more for their first chiropractor visit, which can range on average from $55 – $200.2 The first chiropractic visit generally includes a consultation, exam and a chiropractic adjustment. X-rays may be done which can range from $44 – $159.1

Your chiropractor may recommend and perform additional services based on your condition and treatment plan. These can include physical therapy treatments — like ultrasound therapy ($202) and cold laser therapy ($552) — deep tissue massage ($421) and acupuncture, which averages $100 – $1501 for an initial visit that includes a consultation. Subsequent acupuncture treatments cost an average of $65.1

Is the chiropractor covered by insurance?

Insurance coverage for chiropractic treatment can vary, but many health insurance plans cover a portion of the cost or a specific number of chiropractor visits. The average cost of a chiropractic adjustment with insurance is between $10 and $30.2 That cost may vary according to your copay, coinsurance and deductible. It’s a good idea to check with your insurance plan for details on chiropractic coverage.

How can I finance and pay for chiropractic treatment?

Some chiropractors offer payment plans, so consider asking your chiropractic clinic if you can pay for your treatment in installments. If you see a chiropractor regularly, ask your provider if they offer a multiple session discount or if you can purchase multiple sessions in advance at a discounted rate. Some chiropractic clinics may also offer monthly memberships to help you save on costs.
